B2B Manufacturers vs Distributors | Who is Spending More on Tech Marketplace M&A?

Manufacturers are enabling the rise of B2B marketplaces. In this video I detail some new Applico research looking at the outsized spending by B2B manufacturers when compared to B2B distributors. We analyze why they would want to do such a thing and look at representative examples from manufacturers that are buying and/or investing in tech startups. This small sample of manufacturers outspent all of B2B Distribution. There are many more tech transactions that we did not include – especially multi billion dollar deals which would skew the analysis quite significantly.
