European delivery platform Just Eat Takeaway made headlines in early June when they announced a deal to acquire U.S. food delivery platform Grubhub for $7.3 billion, a sizeable premium compared to what competitor Uber was offering for Grubhub. Alex looks at a recent interview with Grubhub CEO Matt Maloney that reveals part of the reasoning behind why Just Eat Takeaway was willing to pay a premium for the U.S. food delivery platform.
