Shopify Strengthens Platform by Eliminating Developer Fees on First $1mm!

While Shopify’s core eCommerce tool set offering does not fit the definition of a platform business, the company recently announced big changes to a part of its business that does fit the platform model, the eCommerce App Marketplace AKA the Shopify App Store. Alex discusses Shopify’s decision to remove app store fees for developers first $1 million in revenue and explains how the competitive landscape here differs from tech monopoly operated app stores like Apple’s iOS store and Google’s Play Store on Android.
