Why Revlon Had to File For Bankruptcy

Revlon, a 90-year-old cosmetics brand, has announced the company will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. While there’s plenty of fishy behavior going on with owner Ronald Perelman, I think there’s also a story here about how traditional cosmetic retailers have scoffed at new platform enabled channels for growth. We’ve seen huge fashion and cosmetics deals born out of deals with Instagram influences and celebrities with large followings enabled by new platform mediums.
