Key US Venture Capital Takeaways From 2021 [+ What’s Next!]

I recap 2021’s venture capital activity in the United States, highlighting the massive growth in deal value of VC investments in 2021 as well as a 40% increase in number of investment deals. Further showcasing the explosive trajectory of venture capital in the US during 2021, we look at the number of mega-deals (deals over $100 million) this past year and one of my favorite metrics to gauge growth in the startup investing ecosystem, the number of first financings.

I think the big takeaway here is that the overall risk profile of later-stage tech companies is not what it used to be. Investors have become a lot more comfortable putting dollars into this asset class.
