Clubhouse Downloads Dip 72%: Big Tech Moves to Quickly Copy Audio Chat Network

Clubhouse, a viral social network built around live audio chat, has seen downloads plummet after surging to 9.6 million in February 2021. Clubhouse saw 2.7 million global installs in March and a lowly 922,000 downloads in April. Alex discusses the social platform’s slowing downloads and looks at the onslaught of audio chat copycat features being rolled out by big tech. He discusses the recent Series C funding round by Clubhouse and compares with how the social app Meerkat was position in 2015-16 after experiencing a similar viral surge in popularity and then being challenged by Twitter owned Periscope.
